Vintage Mixed Gemstone & Cultured Pearl Necklace | 14K Gold Chain | 18"
A charming vintage necklace that brings together the rich colors and natural character of several classic gemstones with lustrous cultured freshwater pearls, all finished with a 14K yellow gold chain and clasp.
The 18-inch necklace features 23 individual beads arranged in an attractive, deliberately composed sequence of color and texture, including:
- Four 7mm natural amethyst beads
- Three 5mm lapis lazuli beads
- Six 7mm black onyx beads
- Five cultured freshwater pearls, approximately 4–5mm with one larger 7mm pearl
- One 5mm yellow gold bead
- Four silver-tone accent beads that have been confirmed to be magnetic
A Particularly Interesting Clasp
The necklace is finished with an unusual 14K yellow gold box-and-tongue slide clasp. Its lightweight, formed-sheet construction gives it a distinctive vintage character quite different from the heavier cast clasps commonly seen on contemporary jewelry.
The clasp is marked “14Kt” and “FOREVER.” Unfortunately, we have not been able to attribute the FOREVER marking to a particular manufacturer.
Provenance
The necklace is accompanied by its original S.O. Hawkes & Son Jewelers / American Gem Society (AGS) presentation box.
S.O. Hawkes & Son was a long-established Yakima, Washington jewelry firm, making this original box an especially appealing piece of provenance for the necklace.
Condition
Very good vintage condition, with normal minor surface wear consistent with age and use. The necklace has been examined and cleaned as appropriate while retaining its vintage character. #90
